Garnets Fall to #1 Team in the USA 81-33

Posted Tuesday, December 27, 2011 by James Powers
Story comes from Beach Ball Classic reporter Wayne White:

Bishop Gorman scored early and often in route to a 81-33 opening round win over Rye.

Bishop Gorman (5-2; Las Vegas, NV) grabbed the lead from the opening tip and used a 32-5 run to close the opening half to take a commanding 44-13 lead at the break. The second half was pretty much the same as the first 16-minute period as the Gaels led by as many as 48.

The talented Bishop Gorman squad, which cleared the court of its starters with 10:46 remaining, was led by the nation's top senior in Shabazz Muhammad with 24 points. Stanford committee Rosco Allen added 12, while University of Nevada Las Vegas signee Demetrius Morant added 11. The Gaels played without the services of Oregon signee Ben Carter, who is injured and will not be playing at the Beach Ball Classic.

Rye (1-3; Rye, NY) was led by Max Twyman's nine points and Kamal Logue with 8 points.
